Kate Trouw: Pettycur
Concept
Architect and designer Kate Trouw commissioned me to help conceptualise and art-direct a photoshoot for her new collection Pettycur. For Kate’s launch at the London Design Fair, we wanted to create images that combined a beach-scape with a heightened, high end studio look and a sense of hyperreality or surrealism. The Pettycur photoshoot was shot at a beach close to Trouw’s Kinghorn studio in Scotland. Mercurial early morning photographs were taken by Susan Castillo at low tide before being careful selected, edited, and printed and paired with specific pieces from Kate’s collection. At Susan’s Glasgow studio Kate’s physical pieces were then shot in playfully styled still life arrangements where we played with scale, reflection and light.
Pettycur
With Pettycur, Kate Trouw combines hyper-real 3D airbrush techniques, iridescent colour palettes and porous textures to create free spirited, yet instantly wearable jewellery pieces.
